Fontana . . . What a Great Place to Live!

The City of Fontana is a community rich in history with a proud past and an exciting future. Founded by A.B. Miller in 1913, the City of Fontana was originally an agricultural town of citrus orchards, vineyards and chicken ranches with numerous railways running through it. It remained essentially rural until it was radically transformed during World War II when entrepreneur Henry J. Kaiser built a large steel mill in the area. The Kaiser Steel Mill in Fontana was the only steel mill west of the Mississippi River.
