The community of Alta Loma is one of the more affluent residential areas and is located in the northwest portion of Rancho Cucamonga. Even though, in actuality the three communities of Alta Loma, Cucamonga and Etiwanda incorporated back in 1977 to become what we know today as Rancho Cucamonga. The Residents of Alta Loma and Etiwanda agreed to the incorporation only if their identifying community names would be kept along with separate Post Offices and ZIP codes.

Most all Alta Loma Real Estate & Homes For Sale north of Banyan Street are a minimum of 1/2 acre lots, with the exception of 2 Grigsby developments known as Compass Rose. Like most of Rancho Cucamonga, Alta Loma was formerly home to old citrus groves and grape vineyards. Because of this, you’ll find that many homes have orange and lemon trees on their property. You’ll also find numerous horse trails lined with eucalyptus trees. These Eucalyptus trees once served as windbreaks for the groves and vineyards in the area.
